Admissions and documents

1. Confirm grade, academic year, availability and nationality requirements. Under Article 5 of Türkiye’s Law No. 5580, non-tertiary institutions licensed as international private education institutions serve foreign students. Families with Turkish or dual citizenship should request a written decision for the specific division. Turkish private schools with international programmes may have a different licence category.

2. Prepare passports and acceptable identity or residence documents for the student and parents, recent report cards and proof of enrolment or withdrawal. Health and custody papers may also be requested. Ask about certified translation, authentication and equivalency before paying an application fee.

3. Ask about interviews or placement tests, English or French support, confirmed places, start dates and final documents. If a residence document is pending, ask the school and the district education directorate which documentation it will accept for your circumstances.

Fees and transport

Request written fees for the grade and year. Check application and registration charges, deposits, taxes, meals, uniforms, books, devices, buses and external exams. Confirm the currency, conversion rate, instalments and withdrawal and refund terms before paying.

In Ankara, compare journeys to Bilkent, İncek or Çankaya. In Istanbul, compare both sides of the city and actual travel times during school hours. Confirm bus coverage for your address and travel time before choosing a campus.

Curricula and equivalency

Compare teaching language, language support and the qualification issued at the relevant grade. IB PYP covers primary years, MYP middle years and DP the final secondary years. IGCSE is a qualification at its own stage. If university is the goal, check the next grades and the final school-leaving qualification separately.

If needed for a transfer to a Turkish school or recognition of records, apply through the Ministry of Education’s e-Denklik system. Keep originals and ask the equivalency centre about translation and authentication. If studying in another country next, check requirements with the destination authority.
